In the Name of Love

The wind didn’t aggressively blow that night the fact that the world didn’t have much to show, the little robotic candles lighten up themselves with rose petals scattered everywhere, it was expensive since the real plants were giving up to survive, a cup of strawberry cupcake completed with 15th written on it. Oh wait! even the moon watching from above surrounded by the stars. Perfect. That man never felt so right before and there at the spacious yard of his house enlivened by some heartless creator, the romantic candle light dinner was begun.
“I still love you the same, Kim” looking through her blurry figure, he threw a soft smile.
It wasn’t just a phrase. He meant it. On the same day when the promise was made, he promised to not let anything change between them. Anything.

‘Kringggggg’
The most annoying thing for the man, who was still wrestling inside the blanket, was when anything ruined his morning. The alarm for example. His muscular hand full of tattoo was trying to reach it and shut it off in a second, his kind of redden eyes started open, blinking for a short while in the way to get back his sense. As much as he wanted to skip a class, he better to not to cause the thing called attendance existed and it wasn’t a joke anymore since he had reached the limit already. Besides, trying to make his parents proud for once in a life time wouldn’t hurt anybody. Checking his last appearance in the mirror, took the Red Dragon’s key instead of the Giant Silver’s, why hiding behind the glass when you could feel the wind blew against you. With that Christian Yu or better known as Ian was ready to rock the whole campus meeting all the cuties.
Plucking her guitar strings with the face as calm as the morning dew, there were some people passing by in silence but, her love shaped lips kept on humming a melody, life was too short she sure knew how to enjoy it. Kimberly lived a simple life, she might as cold as ice like in people’s perspective but she felt really grateful to have music as her friend when there wasn’t many to be friend with, it could represent her emotion, sending tons of joy through her pulse, more than anyone could ask for. Her biggest displeasure was when somebody trying to ruin it. That bastard Christian Yu, he wasn’t the one who made the noise though, but he literally the one who made the crowed hysterical. She wondering what made the man was so popular but she wasn’t going to blame anybody, not everyone born with a good taste.
Ian never seen campus life was interesting before, not until he saw a petite girl with a lazy bun hairstyle, carrying a guitar case on her back and raised a middle finger up for him. So, she was the ice princess people often talked about. Interesting, he thought. When his eyes lost into those pair of foxy brown orbs his heart pumped blood twice as faster than usual, it could explode at any time. What was that? Love at first sight? He didn’t believe such a thing but the smile on his face lasting for long enough, he even gave zero fucks to the girls who calling out his name in a cute way. Who said he liked cuties? He started to like something cold, just now. And he was planning to melt the ice, one way or another.
He going pass through the hallway and the fate brought him into the same class the owner of the foxy eyes attended.
….
Bouquet flower? Checked.
Movie date? Checked.
Shopping? Didn’t even bother to ask, she wasn’t all of those type.
Ian couldn’t have been more frustrated than that.  Kimberly, she was such a butterfly. Pretty to see hard to catch. After so many things he done didn’t seem to affect the girl so much, rejection after rejection Ian knew there was something wrong with Kim, if there wasn’t then she might or might not be a lesbian. Cause he was too perfect to be ignored. Relied on his last hope he approached the girl under the big tree gazing him with an unfriendly look, guess not even a storm could stop him from doing what he about to do. Ian plugged the headset on her ears, cupped her face to make their eyes connected and ‘Til My last Day’ a song by Justin Moore played. She got the message from the song, she already knew what the man had been doing lately. When you had been survived for years without letting someone open the door and destroy what’s inside. She was afraid couldn’t set it back when it’s happen but with the love of God, she never got loved by someone as strong as the man, all they had tried to do was get into her pants. But that man, the one who she once hated with all of her heart, was different. He promised to keep her. After the song ended, she broke the silence with a surprise kiss, He worth a green light. And the ice finally melted.
Ian was warm as the spring meanwhile Kim was cold as the winter. For Kim, Ian was the coffee she needed in the morning. As it for Ian, Kim was like the Tylenol he took when his head hurt. In drastically short their relationship became the most anticipated one. Sweeter than the candy, Ian never failed to make her heart racing sometimes her cheeks turned out as red as tomatoes when he chose a good word to say, so good. The birds on the three envied them, the grass down there dancing every time they took a walk together, even the security of the campus couldn’t lie about how happy he was seeing Kim’s smile every time Ian told her a joke that was so lame. When you fall for someone, there is no reason to not loving what they do.
Ian’s apartment was such a mess. Kim shake her heads in disbelief, no matter how many times she mocked his lifestyle Ian would come to her and pulled her into his embrace which magically worked. Oh, she loved him to death. The feeling towards one another growing stronger every second. There, on the balcony they sat facing each other with one bottle of wine and Kim’s favorite strawberry cupcakes in the middle, the dim light and an imitation red rose Ian stole from the front desk made the atmosphere kind of romantic. It was enough to celebrate their one year together Kim said while the other hand Ian seem had plans listed on his mind but Kim with her simplicity refused it all in a second. No cruise romantic dinner nor 3 nights in Paris, what about a date? Guess not even that one. Kim knew the later was a bit upset since he was one of the upper class of course he expected something fancy at least. But not with her, she felt uncomfortable with his money. They remained silent for a couple of minute until she broke it with a song. God knew she never sung for anybody cause, they didn’t wort it unless they were Christian Yu.
Ian had no idea loving someone could drive him crazy. Kim turned his world upside down she really had no mercy by the way she treated him like a brother and a lover at the same time, the way she flipped her hair while singing everything on her was just driving him crazy. The reflection of the moon in her eyes wasn’t helping at all he had the urge to kiss her. Without minding the cricket’s noise, he grabbed her by the arm and kissed the hell out of her with smile plastered on each other’s faces Ian promised to marry her one day and the night was all theirs.

Waking up without the man beside her was became the daily routine. She didn’t realize how big Ian taken place in her life to make it empty without his existence on bed. The place was so huge, full of the man’s scent that she loved the most kind of woody mint scent mix unlike her who smelled pretty much like the cheapest candy on the street. It was long ago after they decided to move together, of course she was refusing but after almost three years they spent nights and days together learning each other’s color of emotion, it was worth a try. Kim was an unpopular singer, she created music only to show it to Ian or made a random post on youtube. She had that opportunity to fly higher but Ian wouldn’t be happy with that, said the quality time was more important than dreams. But look at her now, sitting alone on the balcony where they usually killing times together, waiting for her phone to buzz from the successful man who working his ass off outside the city.
But there was none.
No sweets bubble through whatsapp.
No pillow talks before bed.
Much to her surprise, he forgot the cupcake on their anniversary. He wasn’t home.
That was it. That was when things started to be out of place. Once the man home they spent it to fight over a cupcake. They didn’t see things in the same way anymore or they had never been in the first place. How was a cupcake could be the reason of a crack in their relationship? Ian got his jaw locket tightly, couldn’t stand the argument anymore even the blue in her foxy eyes couldn’t stop him from leaving and her biggest fear came true, he destroyed what’s inside after she let him in. he broke one of his promises.
Ian was such a mess. It was way beyond belief. They had never fight over a small thing like cupcake thing. With his head occupied he explored the city, could have seen the trees on the side street mocking him from escaping, pull over on the side street he grabbed his hair in frustration hit the steering wheel tightly so he could let go from what’s bothering him. Not taking a long time after he felt a bit relax he had the urge to come back home and say a proper sorry since technically it was all his fault. Not the cupcake that matter but he clearly forgot their anniversary.
He thought he could make it, but the fate played him.
Kim was out there searching for him to, her world was standing right across of her, muttering the word sorry which she replied with a bright smile she was running to reach the man but to not avail, her body was crashed by a giant truck that the man never imagined to see with his naked eyes. The world stop spinning, his heart stop beating if only he could turn back time where he shouldn’t have left her alone. Cupped her full blood covered face, he begging for a sorry, begging her to stay.
“apology accepted” his vixen, his angel, his everything was smiling behind the pain she felt all over her body telling the man that the love was still there and so the man didn’t need to worry. Never in their longest time together had she seen the man dropped a tear, she didn’t want to see it. Their eyes kept connected, let their memories rushed in. Their heart beating as fast as the first time they kissed under the tree.  there was nothing changed except her heartbeat getting a little bit slower so she asked for a kiss, little did Ian knew that was their last kiss before she gone.
Regrets, anger, sadness were mixed in his blood but he wouldn’t break the other promise he had made.
On August, 8th 2018 in the name of love, he married her. Married a figure in the photo frame and promised to be forever faithful and he wouldn’t let anything change until the day death would bring him to her.
